March 27, from 7:00 – 8:30 PM

March 27, 2017 : At our first meeting of the year, several students, community members, and HCRHS faculty were in attendance. The focus of the meeting was to gain insight of the goals and mission of the group. We heard from several Hunterdon Central students about their experiences and exposure to STEM skills and careers in their courses and extracurricular activities. The students were an integral component to the conversation that ensued about how to bring in professionals and incorporate them into the students’ experience at Central. We broke into five groups to begin planning for the events we are holding this spring. These events include classroom visitations by STEM professionals, a STEM career expo for students to explore the pathways to different careers, a STEAM student showcase for students to show off their talents in STEAM areas, and a grand opening event for the MakerSpace being built at Central. The meeting ended with a presentation by the Central’s FIRST Robotics Team 3637.

April 3, 2017
: At the second meeting of the year, even more community member and HCRHS faculty were in attendance to continue the planning stages of the events. The members of the STEM CC will be spreading the word to get more individuals involved in the planning of upcoming events such as the STEM Career Expo, the STEM Student Showcase, and the Classroom Presentations. We will be holding our third meeting on Monday, May 1st. New and returning members are welcome!
