Athletic Trainers at HC:
The health and well-being of our student athletes is of primary importance to the Athletic Department at Hunterdon Central. Two full-time Athletic Trainers work directly with our coaches and school physician to care for the needs of our student athletes.
Athletic Trainers are healthcare professionals who work under the direction of physicians, as prescribed by state licensure statute. They are highly qualified, multi-skilled healthcare professionals, under the allied health professions category defined by the Health Resources Services Administration and Department of Health and Human Services. The services provided by Athletic Trainers include prevention of injuries, emergency care, evaluation of injuries, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
The mission of the Hunterdon Central Athletic Training program is to provide comprehensive, evidenced-based, quality healthcare services for the well-being of the Hunterdon Central student athletes, while simultaneously promoting an atmosphere conducive to the education of student athletes.
The Athletic Training program strives to develop effective values in prevention, recognition, evaluation and rehabilitation of injuries/illness, as well as in the education of student athletes, parents and coaches. It is the goal of Hunterdon Central's Athletic Trainers to prevent, manage, rehabilitate, and return the student athlete to athletic activity as quickly as is safely possible.
We encourage all parents/guardians to contact the Athletic Trainers with questions relating to the health and well-being of their children. On the right side of this webpage, you will find contact information for our Athletic Trainers, as well as resources with useful information about several health issues affecting young athletes.
The incidence of a head injury or a concussion in a student-athlete is taken extremely seriously by the Athletic Department, athletic trainers and coaches at Hunterdon Central. It is imperative that all parents/guardians of young athletes be informed about this type of injury, the potential consequences and the procedures in place to protect their children.
