athletic Department Overview:

 The Athletic Department at Hunterdon Central strives to provide our student-athletes with a comprehensive, well-planned and balanced program of interscholastic athletics.

Hunterdon Central's Athletic Department is headed by Athletic Director, Bob Rossi. The department includes two athletic trainers, one strength room coach and one department secretary, serving a student body of 3,100. The department has 93 coaching positions - 33 head coaches and 65 sub-varsity positions.

Hunterdon Central is a member of:the NJSIAA, the Skyland Conference, the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex County Athletic Association and the Mid-State 39 Football Conference.

Hunterdon Central's Athletic Department has won the Star Ledger Cup in 2000 and 2001 and the ShopRite Cup in 2008, 2011 and 2012 for Excellence in Athletics, Academics, and Sportsmanship.

Hunterdon Central's teams have won 53 NJSIAA State Group/Team/TOC & National  Championships in the following sports:

  • Baseball in 1987, 2008, 2009
  • Cheerleading in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013
  • Cheerleading Nationals in 2012
  • Cross Country (Girls) in 1979, 1993, 1994, 2000 (2)
  • Fencing Squad Foil (Boys) 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013
  • Field Hockey in 1993, 1994, 1996
  • Football in 1979, 1998, 1999, 2006, 2007
  • Golf (Boys) in 1992, 1995, 2009, 2010 (2), 2011
  • Golf (Girls) in 2009, 2010
  • Gymnastics (Boys) in 1975, 1982, 1991
  • Lacrosse (Boys) in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
  • Softball in 1999, 2011
  • Volleyball (Girls) in 2002, 2006, 2007
  • Winter Track (Girls) in 2004
  • Wrestling in 1976, 1977, 1979, 1989
